Questions & Answers
Q |
Is airfare included in the cost of a tour? |
A |
No. The posted price of each tour is land cost only. The term "land cost" refers to all tour costs incurred in Europe, including airport transfers, group transportation, hostels/hotels, meals, and entrance fees. Our tour members come from many different parts of North America, so it is not feasible for everybody to fly together. The best price option is a direct flight from each person's home city to the first city on the itinerary. We engage the services of a certified travel agent, who will make all flight arrangements for you. However, we are very flexible so if you wish to make your own flight arrangements, you are free to do so. We will meet the tour members in the airport at the first city on the itinerary. For example, if the tour begins in Amsterdam, we will meet you at Schipol Airport, and then escort the group to the hostel. |
Q |
When does the tour officially start and end? |
A |
Each tour member will receive a detailed copy of the itinerary once the first payment is made. The designated time and meeting place (or the official start of the tour) will be stated. The tour ends after we've escorted the group to the departure airport on the last date of the tour, as stated on the itinerary. If a tour member has privately extended his/her itinerary to stay beyond the official tour date, then for him/her, the tour officially ends on departure of the group from the last hotel or youth hostel on the itinerary. The official length of a Loewentours tour does not include any periods of travel before the official start date or after the official end date if tour members are not escorted by Loewentours. Loewentours assumes responsibility for tour members only for the stated duration of each tour. Please be aware that although we will make every effort to keep our itineraries as advertised, we reserve the right to make changes if it is in the best interests of the tour and tour participants. |
Q |
As a parent, I feel that my child is not old enough to be on his/her own in a city. What will he/she do during their free time? |
A |
Nearly all activities - including shopping and mealtimes - are done as a group, and our days will be packed! This will leave very little (if any) individual free time. Any "extra" activities outside the schedule will need to be cleared with the tour guides first. Keep in mind that all costs incurred during the student's free time are their own responsibility. This includes but is not limited to sightseeing, entrance fees, and transportation. |
Q |
How old do I need to be to join a student tour? |
A |
Our target age group is ages 15-19; however, we try to keep our upper age limit "soft." If you are even 20 or 21, you are still welcome to come. However, do expect that the tour will be geared toward a 15-19 year old age group. If you are fine with that, we'd love to have you along! Please note that written parental/guardian consent is required for all students under 19. It is our wish to provide tours which can be enjoyed by everyone. However, if necessary, Loewentours reserves the right to decline an application. |
Q |
Can my friends come along too? |
A |
Yes, feel free to ask your friends to join you! |
Q |
Can someone with special diets, food allergies, diabetes or any condition potentially requiring medical attention, go on a tour? |
A |
We would love to accommodate everyone, but cannot, unfortunately, guarantee an allergy-free environment on our tours. We therefore cannot accept anyone with severe or life-threatening allergies, or anyone potentially needing medical attention, to participate on our tours. Having said this, every tour member will still be responsible for any environment, food, beverage, or other consumable served that may cause adverse symptoms or an allergic reaction. Diabetics will be considered on an individual basis; please contact us. |
Q |
Should I buy travel insurance? |
A |
Yes, we strongly recommend purchasing it. Blue Cross is available across Canada and comprehesive packages are available. This includes a great medical/hospital package, baggage insurance, tour cancellation insurance and more. For more details you may contact Blue Cross on their website. American applicants may contact AAA for travel insurance. |
Q |
How will my personal information be handled? |
A |
We will not give away or sell any information, such as your email or home address, phone number, or other personal information to anyone outside of Loewentours. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.
