Meet the Loewens!
We are a husband-wife team who currently live in central Alberta, Canada. We have both traveled extensively and between the two of us have visited almost every state and province in North America, as well as Japan and multiple countries in Europe. A German heritage, coupled with the experience of living and working in Holland for one year also helped develop a good understanding of European culture.
We have personally researched and designed each of our tours. Being educators ourselves, we naturally design the tours so that you are always learning, yet hopefully enjoying yourself too much to notice. We are also avid photographers and always on the watch for great photo-ops.
Our groups are small on purpose, with a maximum of 20-25 persons per tour. We do this so we can give everyone the individual attention they require and deserve, beginning the moment you sign up. Each person’s well-being and safety is of utmost importance to us. We work as a caring, dedicated team to give you the maximum value out of each tour, and we go the extra mile to help you have the most enjoyable trip possible. Also, many of our tours are accompanied by our daughter, who is a registered nurse.
Our philosophy is to travel in Europe the way Europeans travel. Most people who travel to Europe want an authentic experience; bus tours tend to insulate travelers from the very experience they came for, since they rarely have the opportunity to rub shoulders with the locals. This is why our tours take full advantage of Europe’s efficient train, bus, and tram networks; we also stay overnight in places that reflect the local flavor. We travel this way on our own as well, and find it gives us the richest experience. Our tours are very much hands-on; by this we mean that when we advertise a site you will always have the opportunity to experience it in person. An advertised site will never be a drive-by, as is commonly done by some bus tours. Most of our tours are planned for the off-season (fall/spring) in order to make touring easier and to minimize your travel costs.
All our tours are geared for students, and our commitment is to give you, the active, fun-loving student, an opportunity for a wholesome* travel experience in a safe, comfortable environment. A few of our tours are set to run during Spring Break, and we invite students of all school backgrounds to participate in these. However you will also notice that we have designed several tours to run during the off-season, which will likely appeal more to the home-schooling community. Our own 6 teenagers and twenty-something year-olds have often come with us to Europe, and we’ve developed a 6th sense for what that age group enjoys. They also love to travel, and you may find one or two helping on tour or acting as chaperones.
Because our tours are advertised in various parts of Canada, those who travel with Loewentours also have the opportunity to meet and build friendships with others who are not from their hometown or province.

We invite you to choose your tour, and then follow the directions on our sign-up page. We look forward to hearing from you!
*Our student tours are alcohol- and smoke-free.
